They believe the energy transition is about more than renewable energy or great technologies: it is about a wise use of resources while strengthening local participation and well-being in a democratic Europe. Energy Cities wants a radical transformation of the energy systems and policies, giving citizens the power to shape a decentralised and renewable energy future. They trigger a trustful dialogue between citizens, local leaders and EU & national institutions to accelerate the energy transition in Europe.

Climate Alliance, responsible for the capacity building in EUCF, is a non-for-profit association founded in 1990. For more than 25 years, Climate Alliance member municipalities have been acting in partnership with indigenous rainforest peoples for the benefit of the global climate. FEDARENE, in charge of coordinating country experts, is the primary European network of regional organisations which implement, co-ordinate and facilitate energy and environment policies. The federation counts more than 80 members in 23 EU countries. Most members are regional energy agencies but an increasing number of regional authorities are joining the network in search of a representative thematic network on EU energy and climate issues.
