The Consortium

Energy Cities, the coordinator, is a network of 1,000 local governments in 30 countries. They believe the energy transition is about more than renewable energy or great technologies: it is about a wise use of resources while strengthening local participation and well-being in a democratic Europe. Energy Cities wants a radical transformation of the energy systems and policies, giving citizens the power to shape a decentralised and renewable energy future. They trigger a trustful dialogue between citizens, local leaders and EU & national institutions to accelerate the energy transition in Europe.

Climate Alliance, responsible for the capacity building in EUCF, is a non-for-profit association founded in 1990. For more than 25 years, Climate Alliance member municipalities have been acting in partnership with indigenous rainforest peoples for the benefit of the global climate. With more than 1,700 members spread across 26 European countries, Climate Alliance is the world’s largest city network dedicated to climate action and the only one to set tangible targets.

FEDARENE, in charge of coordinating country experts, is the primary European network of regional organisations which implement, co-ordinate and facilitate energy and environment policies. The federation counts more than 80 members in 23 EU countries. Most members are regional energy agencies but an increasing number of regional authorities are joining the network in search of a representative thematic network on EU energy and climate issues.

Adelphi, responsible for planning and monitoring, is a leading independent think tank and public policy consultancy on climate, environment and development. Its mission is to improve global governance through research, dialogue and consultation. Its staff of more than 180 provides high-quality interdisciplinary research, strategic policy analysis and advice, as well as capacity building measures. Since 2001, Adelphi has successfully completed over 900 projects worldwide.

ENVIROS, in charge of operational activities, is one of the leading consulting companies providing assistance in the field of energy, environmental and business in the Czech Republic, Central and Eastern Europe, as well as other parts of the world. The majority stakeholder of ENVIROS, s.r.o. is the UK based ENVIROS GLOBAL LIMITED.

ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability, in charge of the communication activities, is a global network of more than 2500 local and regional governments committed to sustainable urban development. Active in 125+ countries, they influence sustainability policy and drive local action for low emission, nature-based, equitable, resilient and circular development. The Members and team of experts work together through peer exchange, partnerships and capacity building to create systemic change for urban sustainability.

GNE Finance, leading the work on mobilising investments, is a high impact investment company providing financing for the built environment. The Board

EUCF´s Board is composed of representatives of all European city networks that are leading the Covenant of Mayors Office (Energy Cities, Climate Alliance CEMR, Eurocities and ICLEI).
The Board is responsible for strategic steering of the EUCF ensuring that it directly responds to cities´ needs. For more information please see the Board page.

The Investement Advisory Group (AIG)

The Investment Advisory Group (IAG) is part of the EUCF Governance bodies. The IAG main goal is to ensure a solid link between the EUCF operation and outcomes and the expectations of potential investors. The IAG mission is to provide feedback to the EUCF team on a set of different activities such as feedback on the calls for beneficiaries, the EUCF match-making activities and the EUCF investors network among others.
